Interview
1) Hi Ian, nice to have you in your website. So could you tell us something basic about you and your project?
Ian: The Prayer is a Gothic EBM Industrial Project..

2) How old is your project The Prayer and how it started?
Ian: We grounded this Band with earlier Members: Martin Haug and MG Kramer, Tony Ground and Michael O’Neill 1990.
3) You are the only member of ThePrayer?
Ian: Thorsten Schaefer & Marix and i are the members of the Band.
4) What is the idea of ThePrayer?
Ian: I have many Nightmares and Dreams, so i wrote about them, they are very religious and cruel sometimes.
5) How many albums you released? Could you tell us something short about each?
Ian: With Thorsten we created 3 Albums and 4 Maxis Cd’s until now…. Scars
from 2008 our Debut Album, with the same Track, a song about my Hate
for selfished People, and Trust 2009 an album which included Themes about
Nightmares too and also strange Dreams, Nephilims, Cultures like the
Babylonians.
The Third Album from the Year 2010: Walk Alone, i think it’s our Best
Album, we have also our ex-guitar Henry Monheimius for three Tracks in
it. This Albums has very much Themes, they are very special, To be Old
and alone, walk alone!!! Wounds, about Wounds for love, Unspoken about my first love Hatice, Strange Day about the 11.th September...
6) What track do you think is your masterpiece ?
Ian: Love makes Strong, Welcome To The End and Scars, also Children of the Lost Childhood from the 4.th Album, our new Song.
7) What about your new album you currently working on? Could you describe it or is it secret? 
Ian: The New Album: Children EP! An Album about my first Love Hatice and the Times
i lived without her, and the short Time i lived with her… stay tuned, i
think it’s the best we do now, we work very hard for this Album.
 Do you working on music at home, or in music and recording studio?
Ian: All Songs were written and recorded at Home..
No Studio required.
9) What kind of music do you listen most? What genre and artists do you like?
Ian: Gothic, EBM Industrial, 80's neofolk, 60's & 70's, and Dance music also. Our Faves are also:
Depeche Mode, IKON, and VNV Nation, Wipers, The Cure…(without The Cure: No The Prayer!!!)
10) Do you prefer headphones, or speakers? And what of these do you have for working?
Ian: We prefer Headphones at working an Albums..

Vor mir liegt die neue CD "Trust" von The Prayer, einem Trio aus Bonn/Belfast/London
die bestehend aus Ian Miller alias Anaconda69 am Mikro, Thorsten an den Instrumenten und Henry an der Gitarre, schon seit 2004 die Szene mit neuen Platten versorgen.
War schon das letzte Album "Scars" ein ausgetuefteltes Werk an reichhaltiger
Elektronic, so haben sich die drei beim neuen Werk absolut weiterentwickelt und ihrem musikalischen Kosmos nochmals an Vielfaeltigkeit vergroessert.
Die neue Platte klingt wie ein Mix aus THE VELVET ACID CHRIST, MENTELLO
AND THE FIXER und etwas FRONTLINE ASSEMBLY - aber das auch nur bis
Track sieben - ab dort aendert sich der Musikstil fast um 180 Grad.
Aber der Reihe nach..der erste Track "Welcome to the End" ist ein clever arrangierter
Song mit trancigen Einfluessen, wie gemacht fuer den Dancefloor, es folgen sehr verschachtelte
Tracks die etwas im Midtempo Bereich angesiedelt sind und mit Anaconda69's mystischer Stimme angereichert wurden, wie bei "Anyone out there" das ungemein rytmisch und technoid angelegt ist.
Und ab dem Song seven "Elizium Fields" aendert sich das bisherige Gesamtbild der Musik komplett
ab hier dominieren eindeutig die Gitarren, es wird fast richtig gerockt im Stile von z. B. den Australierern "IKON", mit fetten Stromgitarren gehts dann bei "Say Goodbye" weiter, da
klingen THE PRAYER fast wie ganz fruehere "NEW ORDER" und bei "Change" ( 9. Track) hoert es sich dann wieder Elektro -"Clashig - Trashig" an - zudem singt Anaconda69 bei all den sehr erdigen, duesteren Gitarrentracks mit einer fast Grabes aehnlichen Stimme - so macht Gothicvielfalt einfach Spass.
Die Texte uebrigens von THE PRAYER sind sehr authentisch und Anaconda69 schreibt die meisten selbst davon, der er nach geplagten Alptraeumen in so manchen Naechten am Morgen danach sofort komponiert.
Der Bonustrack, der mir noch als Ghosttrack zehn vorliegt, heisst: Love Makes Strong & kommt in neofolkigen Klaengen mit der Slideguitar sehr atmosphaerisch daher, hier lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall einmal reinzuhoeren denn es wird so einiges Geboten, lasst Euch einfach von dem sympatischen Trio ueberaschen.

Bands of the Internet Vol.2
You'll never see these bands on the MTV.
They won't headline the Big Day Out
They aren't going to sell millions of CDs worldwide
"Not to say, they couldn't"
But they are all over the internet, and many are providing their works for free legal download (see: Creative Commons Licensing), making them accesible in a way previously unknown. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, the following bands (and an absolute fucktonne more, but these are the highlights thus far) have been able to get their works out into the public domain, and reach audiences that may have otherwise been unreachable, be that due to cost or due to location (may only have reached local distribution).
Yes, I know the introduction is an exact copy of the introduction in Volume 1, but I'm a big fan of consistency.
the prayer
So after writing my previous journal, I was contacted by Anaconda69 who recommended that I check their band out, and that they may indeed be worth a mention. Now, I have to admit, dark-electro and myself have previously been mutually exclusive events, having never come across a band that primarily identifies as 'dark elektro'. I guess I was expecting your generic, dance crap with a more "gothic" feel to it, but my expectations were - gladly - completely wrong.
What I've found is a dark, down-tempo EBM style of music. Of course, the tracks vary in speed and tempo, which is what makes the albums stay interesting. Whilst it may be unintentional, a number of tracks add an atmospheric feel, whilst others add industrial elements to further deepen the complexity - and enjoyability - of the music. I'm not a great fan of electronic music by any means, but I rate this very, very highly. If you want to get your hands on some of the material, I suggest contacting either the band either through last.fm (user link above) or via their homepage (English speakers may need a German translator to get through some of the pages).

Modern rock and roll
This rock and roll is simple, efficient, modern and friendly . The melodies are supported by an omnipresent bass , basic drums and guitar that runs continuously and wraps . Original and controled sound go out from this set . This rock and roll is flowing from source while scenting novelty . An album that is , in my opinion , essential .
